This is the story of Todd Graves, the founder of Raising Cane’s, a restaurant that specializes in chicken fingers. His idea was initially dismissed—his college professor gave his business plan the lowest grade, and banks refused to give him loans. Determined, Todd took on grueling jobs to fund his dream. He worked as a boilermaker in Los Angeles in 1994, then traveled to Alaska in 1995 to fish for sockeye salmon under harsh conditions. After returning home with his earnings and securing an SBA loan, he began renovations on a building near Louisiana State University in 1996. Originally planning to name the restaurant "Sockeye’s", he instead named it Raising Cane’s after his Labrador Retriever.
